Coronavirus/COVID-19 is Declared a U.S. Public Health Emergency
The Department of Health and Human Services declared that the U.S. has a Public Health Emergency. We now have new restrictions placed on our daily lives due to this health pandemic. There is a significant risk of transmission with our usual social engagements. Everyone is at risk for infection, regardless of age, race, and gender.
What does that mean for my patients?
My private practice made an immediate transition on March 20, 20 to Telehealth Services. My office will not be open for in-person appointments.
What is Telehealth/ Telemedicine?
Telehealth/Telemedicine is health care services you can get while not being physically in the room with a provider.
What is Doxy.me Telemedicine?
Doxy.me is a teleconferencing platform that allows me to have virtual appointments remotely with my patients. I will not be in the same room with my patients.
What are the risks?
There is the usual potential risk of any technology, such as interruptions, unauthorized access, and technical difficulties. Doxy.me was selected since it is confidential HIPAA compliant video software that allows me to meet you virtually.
What will established patients need to do?
Established patients need to provide your updated email address. You will receive 30 minutes before appointment time a link via email. We already have your physical records for verification
What will new patients have to do?
You will have to complete a Tele Mental Health package . This document will allow you to provide your backup telephone number, emergency contact persons, and your local hospital. Also, the full address of where you are receiving services if not a home address. At the time of appointment, you will present your government issue I.D, for example, a driver’s license for picture verification.
What is the ideal location for an appointment?
Please make sure you are in a quiet and confidential space.
How do I get my medications?
Patients will get their medications at their pharmacy. Those with controlled substances will have to make an appointment to pick up their prescriptions quickly. No waiting in the reception area!!
What is your pre-appointment task?
Those on medications that can increase your blood pressure should get a monitor. This way, you report your blood pressure. The standard assessment forms for Depression and Anxiety need your review. ADHD forms will be given for those with that diagnosis
When will you return to in-person office appointments?
When the HHS emergency health ends, this should reflect the return to our usual way of life.
